Noticed a vibration in my engine 468 stroker had it do something similar before and it was the crank pulley cracked. Thought maybe again but i just took it off and this one looks fine and i even fired it up and the vibration was still there . seems to smooth out when i rev it up but shows up when it comes down? Any ideas? its a std trans makes no diff if i push the clutch in

Sounds like its skipping.
An internal out of balance wont come and go.

I bet he meant misfire, if so, I was thinking the same. Only out of balance that I could see come and go is possibly a clutched fan? Missing a blade?

I had a vibration for months. Finally found that my oil pan was barely touching the frame.

It's still winter, just hasn't felt like it for a little while. It WILL be cold soon.

If you have a timing light, clamp the inductive pickup around each plug wire, one at a time, and hit the trigger. Watch for a nice steady spark. If you see it not firing, or firing intermittently, then you probably have a plug fouling out, or possibly a bad plug wire.

The light will still blink with a fouled plug.
You must cancel one cylinder at a time to preform a power balance..
The safest way is with some insulated plug wire pliers an the distributor cap.

I have found several bad plugs with the light trick. If the plug doesn't fire, it doesn't complete the circuit, and the light doesn't flash. That has been my experience from using this trick since the 80's. It just doesn't isolate whether it's the plug or the wire. But at least it shows which cylinder isn't firing.

Or you can buy this for cheap.

No need for a Infrared heat gun. Get a squirter with water and you will be able to pick out the colder pipe.
