Brake stuff !!!
Hi everyone
I am in the process of tidying up my 1970 Firebird, and renewing what I am not happy with or what I think is not right. My brakes is the big issue for me. They work fine but I know they are not correct for the car, the booster and master cylinder. This is what I have I am looking at replacing it with one ----> Brake Booster Has anybody on here used these Also, down on my subframe I have this and a Brake Line Lock lever Would buying the Booster above mean that this can be removed. Thanks Guys for any help Always appreciate it Mick Last edited by Mickey_London; 03-27-2019 at 05:20 AM. |

The link you posted is for a 1971 style and newer master cylinder and booster setup.
Pontiac changed from the 3 valve set up in 1970 to a 1 valve setup in 1971 . Simpler and easier and probably cheaper as well. If you are not super anal about originality, that 1971 set would be a lot closer to a factory set up than what you have right now. You can also get any new brake lines you need from that same supplier to make your installation go smoother. I don’t see any reason you would have to keep that other valve you posted a picture of. The 1971 setup should work well for you. BTW, are you disc brakes on the front and drums on the rear? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Then I would install the simplified 1971 setup for sure. It will look much more correct and than what you currently have.

In keeping with close to original OEM styling on my second gen TA a few years back, I had a good outcome with Right Stuff for everything from calipers, drums, pre-bent lines and etc.

https://www.jegs.com/i/Right-Stuff/9...70171/10002/-1 76TA462 is right. Since originality is no big deal, for $254.00 USD + shipping and international import fee, you can order just what you need from JEG's here in the US. That includes vacuum booster, master cylinder & proportioning valve already tubed up. All you do is install it and run new brake lines out to all four wheels. Bleed your brakes and your done.

Hello Mickey,
There is also one for about $40.00 less @ $216.00 USD. Same as above except no Delco stamp on the booster. No big deal if originality doesn't matter. They both look good. See link below. https://www.jegs.com/i/Right+Stuff/9...yABEgK7ePD_BwE

Morning All
Again, thanks to all, taking their time out to try to help. I ordered the one on eBay on the 27th. I have looked at the ones on JEGS but it works out cheaper for me with eBay and their International Shipping Program. Normally takes around 2 weeks to get here, but that is no biggy for me. Now just debating whether to buy the preshaped lines or just make them up myself haha When I receive the Booster I will post it up here if anyone is interested Mick :-) Last edited by Mickey_London; 03-29-2019 at 03:35 AM.
