Default Exhaust Manifold

Hi
I have a 1970 Firebird with the 350 engine

The problem I have is that the roads around here are sh1t
I have headers fitted that hang low and when I go over any uneven road they ground out. It is like listening to the intro of the song We Will Rock You sometimes

I have the #11 heads, which I am assuming are the original ones for the car. Which I am also assuming that they have D ports
Now, what I am asking here is will these be suitable for my car
https://www.ramairrestoration.com/po...y-headers.html

I have emailed the company a few times over the last couple of months asking, but have no reply

I am not worried about gaining/losing any HP however small
Just want my car to be an enjoyable ride, any time I go out for a drive

Thanks for any help/suggestions on this
Mick

Those manifolds are correct for your application and would definitely solve most of your ground clearance problem. Your #11 heads are definitely the common D-port variety.

Better yet would be switching to the factory log exhaust manifolds, even better ground clearance with little power loss compared to the Ram Air manifolds and less cash outlay.

Thanks for the rapid response b-man

Does anywhere sell the log exhaust manifolds, or can I only get them second hand.
I am in the UK so some may have an issue with posting to me
Thanks again
Mick

I'm pretty sure our forum sponsor AMES sells reproduction log manifolds but the cost is very close to what reproduction Ram Air style manifolds sell for, so no real savings there unless you buy used logs which are quite plentiful over here.

I would try posting a 'parts wanted' ad here in the classifieds and see how you fare on the log manifolds. If that doesn't work out if just go ahead and get the Ram Air manifolds, don't forget the matching down pipes.

I've heard that there are two companies casting reproduction Pontiac exhaust manifolds. The Ram Air Restoration ones are supposedly the way to go.

I would phone them and get their advice on style for clearance, finish, gasket, hardware, installation, etc...

I'm glad to see Pontiacs represented in the UK. I can't imagine seeing one on the M25.

I was on the M25 a couple of weeks ago :-)
When I stopped at the petrol station to get some fuel someone came up and said ' I love these Mustangs ' hahaha
I didn't have the heart to tell him
Haha
