Default Cleaning aluminum heads

I picked up a set of used Edelbrock d-port heads. Was looking for an easy way to clean them and found a fairly trouble free and cheap way, Simple Green heavy duty cleaner did the trick. I had a plastic tub that a head fit in perfectly and just let it soak for 2 days (did leave it on the dry so as laundry was being done it got a good mixing), 5 min with a wire brush and rinsed off and done. Not sure if you guys have an easier way but this worked out great for me.

How many parts water to the Simple Green?

I’ve been using the regular stuff at full-strength to degrease and remove oxidation on parts, but you have to be careful because it can etch and even dissolve soft metals if you leave it to soak too long.

Removes paint as well, I wouldn’t recommend cleaning/degreasing your engine with it as it will dull the paint finish.

5 to 1. So in my case 2.5 gal water 1/2 gal simple green. Worked great. This method was recommended to me by a friend and he has soaked up to 3 days.

I have a set of KREs I’d like to clean but don’t want to damage the oil seals during removal
