Those lights say they're high beams. Does it matter? Or can they be used in either spot?
ETA: not the ones FJ linked, but same brand in a 5.75".

Same lamp. See post #32.

They have the appearance of glass, but I can't see where it's specified.

After reading post 32, to me that seems like the bulbs go in either position. Still unsure about the lenses.

What I've found is that when they are rotated away from the recommended install position, it tends to spread out the beam. Great for visibility but oncoming drivers won't like it much LOL Many of the H4 LED's on the market now have the ability to be rotated like that. Some don't and are fixed. The Lightening Dark bulbs I linked to earlier have the male plug integrated into it, just like the incandescent bulbs have, so your existing harness will plug right into it. The lenses themselves install into the headlight buck just like your incandescent bulbs do, retained with the stainless ring. |

So I changed the low beams out to the parts linked by FJ. Operation is good, puts out good, clean white light. I'm not sure they're sealed well enough for a daily driver, but mine almost never sees wet weather so shouldn't be an issue for me. The pattern (not the adjustment but the way the light is dispersed out the lens) is biased noticeably to the outside, so I'll probably swing them in a bit as a compromise. Overall an improvement.

We have them in both our dailys and while it doesn't rain all that much in Arizona (although we've had a wetter season than normal this year) the headlights have been okay, 3-4 years now

This is what I used with the 5.75" lens.
ETA: My own link I sent myself before ordering now takes me to an H7, so be careful. That's why I took the picture of the box and tag. Maybe the H4 is out of stock, idk. I don't do Amazon well, my kids handle that for me...

Thanks for the pick I’ll check it out!
Another thing I just realized, are the 5 3/4 lenses the same for high and low beam? I just noticed the link that was posted was for a high beam??

Yes, it says high beam. I couldn't find another so I used it. I only ordered 2, in case they actually had to be moved to the high beams. Seems ok as is, no one was flashing their lights at me, and they seemed to be in the same area as always. I actually adjusted them up one turn, and will probably go one more, when I swing them to center a little as mentioned previously.
ETA: my up/down adjustments aren't because of these lenses or bulbs. I've ignored my ride height modifications for years until I'm old and can't see well at night... Now I'm having to address it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...OX7RJ67Q2&th=1 I think these should work? And these are the 5 3/4” lenses, they say they are for high beam but will work on high and low beam: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Is this all correct??

That's funny Scott, I'm the same way and usually have my wife handle the Amazon stuff. She usually has discounts anyway.
Having 4 of them working on a 4 headlight system is like daytime driving, it's brutally bright. Having the low beams on I find is pretty darn bright and good enough for most driving, but on the mountain roads where it's pitch black and moose running around the high beams are fantastic. I've also noticed the cleaner and whiter light also does a much better job of lighting up the imperfections in the road surface and for a much longer distance, something the incandescent bulbs do a poor job of. It's now much easier to dodge potholes and obstacles in the roadway. |

The first link takes me to a Lightening Dark H4 but I noticed it's slightly different than what I usually buy. Those have a fixed prong rather than a pig tail harness attached and appear they should work the same but I notice they are only advertised at 14,000 lumens. The H4 Lightenings I usually buy are 20,000 lumens. |

These are the ones I buy
https://www.amazon.com/LIGHTENING-DA...%2C140&sr=8-38 They are only a couple more dollars $43 vs $49 with 20,000 lumens vs 14,000. They also sell a version with 22,000 lumens but the price jumps to $75 |

I would go straight to High quality (expensive) LEDs instead of buying and wiring in relays.
My four light 5-3/4” Firebird has evolved three times. First to Halogen sealed beams. Second to Hella E-Code glass housings and halogen bulbs. Got them from this guy who was super knowledgable and helpful: https://www.rallylights.com/ Had to run relays for that set up since those halogen bulbs drew a total of 31 amps! Bright though. And very high quality beam. Now I run Morimoto 2Stroke LED bulbs in the glass housings. The LEDs have a built in fan. As bright as the previous Euro-Halogen setup and also a high quality beam. Crisp cutoff. Good color - not too blue. These are the best headlights I’ve had on this car in 43 years of ownership. And no more changing headlight bulbs. I left the relays in place but they are not needed anymore.

Speaking of blue, from what I've read and experimented with, once you start getting over 6500k the light will start turning blue.
I tried a set that had a blue tint and found that to be horrible for me. What ever it is about the blue light and my eye balls I couldn't see chit at night and struggled driving with them. I couldn't get them out fast enough. I learned to keep it at 6500k and just concentrate on lumen output. |
