Default control of 200-4r lockup

looking at using a cruise control turn signal switch to engage/disengage the lockup.

I want to replace my lighted toggle switch with a small LED and use the button on the turn signal.

Show us your system.

Heres how my system works as I installed it almost 40 yrs ago.
I reversed the contacts on the accelerator kick down switch.
Now when it gets over 50% throttle it will disconnect the TCC.
Downshift is via the TV cable not an electric switch as it was previously.
Brake light switch for a cruise control car allows a set of contacts for disconnecting
the TCC when the brake is applied.

Im thinking of adding the 4th gear pressure switch so it locks up only in 4th.
As it is now if the TCC system is on it will lock up beginning in 2nd gear.
No need for this,4th gear only is fine.
Figuring out how to control lockup with a pulse signal using the cruise control switch on turn signal
is the last hurdle .

That is a complex situation in my mind. I used a vacuum switch off a 87 truck that had a carb/th700r4 for lock up on my Grand Prix. It worked good.

Here is how I've done them here and they work like they are supposed to.

Run the voltage to the TCC solenoid thru a vacuum switch hooked to ported vacuum.

Ground the other side of the TCC solenoid on a "normally open" 4th gear pressure switch.

This method will ONLY allso LU once the transmission reaches 4th gear or overdrive.

Since ported vacuum is being used, it will ONLY allow lock-up in 4th gear when you are at light part throttle.

Any heavy or full throttle will unlock the TCC as vacuum goes to zero or at least well below the set point of the vacuum switch.

Anytime you coast it will unlock the TCC as vacuum goes to zero.

Anytime you shift out of 4th will unlock the TCC because we loose the ground on the 4th gear pressure switch.

You have the option to rout the supply voltage to the vacuum switch thru a toggle switch first to shut it off completely.

TCI used to sell an adjustable vacuum switch but it has a very narrow range of adjustment, but still works fine. Most carburetors will have a provision someplace on them for ported vacuum, if not it can be added to most of them if you know what you are doing with that sort of thing.

Using a toggle switch or other methods that don't allow the TCC to unlock coasting, or heavy load can overwork the TCC unless you have purchased a high dollar converter with a mulitple disk TCC clutch arrangement.......

I utilized the Compushift Mini from HGM. Unfortunately this is not currently available and there has been a dramatic price increase.

https://hgmelectronics.com/pages/com...4r-coming-soon

This essentially electronically controls the TCC via TV cable, line pressure, MPH, etc. Parameter's are settable via BT App include: Torque Converter Lock via TPS, Speed, Delay.

I have one in use for over 13k miles now after hating the vacuum, brake switch setup.

Just another option to consider.
