Default Stock Pontiac 350 valve seal

I just took the valve apart on my stock 1970 350 heads. Is the seal just the small o ring? There is no other seal lower down the valve stem? When I looked at butlers gasket kit it had the first option of valve seals with the kit and they looked like bigger just round seals. Not the positive type that sit on machined seats.

Yes, a stock 350 will just have the O ring which works in conjunction with the oil splash shield which must be there if only the O ring is used.

If you are using this stock set up and need any new valves then the valves need to have the two top stem grooves.

I don’t know what kind of other seal the Butler kit comes with you will have to get the info on that from them.

If it’s a positive type seal then there’s two options.

1) it’s a big single clip type seal that fits on a stock valve guide, but can only be used with stock ID valve springs.

2) there are supplying positive type seals that will need to have the guides cut to use them.
