Default Melonized Gear for Pontiac - New

Has anyone seen this? Randy Repp just posted it on his FB page- it’s a Howard’s Cams Everwear Melonized distributor gear for Pontiac. Good deal if quality and a third option for roller cams:

Nice to see new products for this addiction of ours…

I'm pretty sure melonized gears for Pontiac have been around for a while.

I never saw a melanized distributor gear for a Pontiac until now. It seems they only make them for a .500 shaft nothing for a stock distributor.

The Progression Ignition distributor I bought around two years ago had a melonized gear and it was .491

Yeah theyve been around for a while now for pontiac. I mentioned it maybe a year ago when the subject came up. It's what Ive used on all engine builds of other brands for a really long time.

Which is better for a steel geared roller cam - the polymer or melonized?

The ad says for .500 shaft and is good for flat tappet and Hyd Roller cams. Doesn't say solid roller?

First time in 20 years I never made it. I did manage to take an old friend for a ride a month ago. He has a supercharged Mustang..fast car great highway car not set up for the quarter mile. Took him for a drive around town..showing him how mellow it is...he asked me how high the engine can rev 5000 rpm?, I told him well over 6000 rpm. ToId him lets head out of town and lets see how its working.I had my street tires on, Nitto's heated them up for a second, took off from a standstill and rolled into the throttle hard..hazed them for maybe 20 feet and fully hooked went maybe 1/8th of a mile then slowed down...totally blew his mind. It was probably the quickest the car has ever been on the street.

Sorry about the hijack to the OP..
