The 1970 models (both T-37 and GT-37) had decals applied under the metal "Tempest" emblems on the side and on the trunk lid.

The metal GT-37 emblems are for the '71s.

All GT-37s had the GTO rear valence which had the cutouts for the splitters. If your car has this, then I would bet it is a GT-37.

Sway bar would be an added item as it was not available w/Y-99 suspension. Only Y-96.

Nice!
Is that a true 'early' '71 GT-37 that came with eyebrow stripes? When was that car built?

Great pics guys. The white car is a one owner '70 GT-37 400 4-spd wearing original paint. The GT-37 on the fender is a decal. The silver '71 GT-37 with blue sword stripe is an old beater that I use to own. That car had a 350 3-spd manual.

When you say original paint are you saying the stripes are original too? I always thought that the '70s all came with the '69 Judge style stripes as shown in post #122.

I believe it is from the PHS I posted in another GT37 thread and the remains of the stripes under the old paint. I cant remember off the top of my head when it was built; I'll call and ask tomorrow and update.

You sure about that?

Every 71 GT-37 I've been around had the GT-37 cut out of the sword stripe so body color showed thru as the car in this pic has http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...9&d=1263916515. I've seen two 70's with the Chrome emblems BEFORE they repops were sold.

Mike

Mike, I will not say it's absolute, but go back and look at every picture posted in this thread. The '70s all have decals. The early '71s have the metal "GT-37" on the fenders and trunk lid, the late '71s have the cut outs in the sword stripe and a metal "GT-37" on the trunk lid.

As for those '70s you saw with metal emblems... Maybe all of those chocolate chip cookies you've stolen from Rustie have clouded your memory.

goatless,
Good point about those stripes. Next time I catch up with the owner of this '70 GT-37 I will ask him about that. Now I'm wondering if this car is a very late 70 model build with the early 71 stripes installed.
