Default 1967 400 lifters

Is there any difference between a 67 400 block and a 76 400 block when it comes to lifters.
Im have a heck of a time keeping the lifters adjusted.

421 heads? Press in studs could be backing out.

Polylocks need the top of the stud ground flat for the set screws to seat on and stay tight, another possibility.

Same heads that were on my wife's 400 engine, I think they are 6x. They are screw in studs, I replaced the studs with 7/16" and got roller stamp steel rockers but im have a heck of a time getting these things to stay adjusted.

No 421 block in 1967, so is it the heads that are 421?

The pushrods the correct length?

Cam lobes going flat?

Those rockers are known for the rocker balls not being a good fit, possibly wearing in at this point. Watch out for bluing in the ball pivot area.

Stock rockers or full roller rockers.

Anything in between reality isn’t worth using.

At least go for some proven Harland Sharp rockers, those roller tip stamped type rockers are sketchy at best in my opinion. Some folks have good luck with them, others not so lucky.

I think it would be wise to pull those off and put the stockers back on before those rollers tips put any more metal in your engine.

I’d try to return them as defective because they likely are.

They are not only getting loose (ticking) they also get tight (where it starts to miss). And then I have to readjust them and it’s fine for a little while. Freaking weird!

Sorry if this was already answered but, has it been confirmed that the nuts are coming loose or something moving? Might try a little loctite blue and run the test again.

Nuts are locking and they are not getting loose.
