Default Orlando update

Well I just heard that the bump after the FIRST qualifier in drag radial is a 8.70 OUCH!!! There are around 100 car trying to Qualify!

Ken's nitrous switch didn't work in the car, so he made a motor pass, but has the problem fixed.

In heavy Street the #1 Q ran a 7.41 @192, but he bump so far is a 10.00 (weird I know)

And Oultlaw 10.5 i don't now the bump but Chuck Ulsch (Mobleys car) went a 7.07 and Richard Sexton went a a low 7 also.

More to come!

Here's a vid of a twin turbo GTO that lost it around the 1/8. Guy is said to be from Canada. He's OK.

I watched that about 5 time and it sounded like he was getting back on the gas right before he hit the fence!!

It was good to see him get out and walk away from that!!

That ancient Armaguard really did it's job in keeping the car on the track, huh. Broadsided it, bent it over, and used it as a ramp. Very fortunate no spectators were hurt. Check out the first track member that got to the car...as the car was still rolling, he was trying to get the hell out of the way. I bet he had to change his shorts afterwards.

Any bets as to how fast he was going when hitting the guard-rail? I'm going to guess 90.

How far down track was he? Looks like he was about even with the 1/8th area when he went over. I run 100 MPH in the 1/8th. I'm guessing 120ish.

He lifted at just about the 330' mark it looks like. Went over the guardrail about 500' out I think. I was figuring a car like that would run about 125 MPH in the 1/8th mile, so I picked 90 MPH as a conservative estimate for when he hit the guardrail. Could have been faster. Scary launch through the air though. Tore that body to shreds like it was fiberglass (but it wasn't). When's the last time you saw a car roll in soft grass and tear the sheetmetal roof off?

Yeah, upon second look he was not as far as I thought. I'd still be cleaning the Hershey Kisses out of my shorts!

I still can't find a website that posts the qualifying times anywhere. My friend Scott Bitzer should be one of the 7 second Drag Radial cars there. Just can't find a link with info!!
