Scott Burton has made it at least to the SS semifinal. I assume it will be on Sunday.

Julie Biermann is also going to the Stock semifinal, at the SPORTSnationals.

Julie Biermann made 5 good rounds. But, she cut a bad light in the semifinal. But hey, 5 round wins at a national event is a pretty good weekend.

Only see 1 car at this race with Pontiac power. It's a '67 Bird Stocker, belonging to Bryan Phillips. He's been racing it for quite a few years.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

Just a few years ago, there were usually quite a few Pontiac powered Stockers & Super Stockers that would show up for CA races. But, those days are history now. One car was stolen & other former Pontiac racers have switched to late model cars. It's sorta sad for Pontiac fans.

Yes. But John hasn't run a Pontiac engine in the car he drives in quite a few years. That's why I don't usually mention him.

It’s a shame there aren’t more people running Pontiacs you’d think w the after market parts now allowed in many classes there would be more not less.

It would be interesting to k ow why the switch.

"...It would be interesting to k ow why the switch."

One reason many are switching to the quicker, faster Factory Stock cars is so that many of their opponents will leave 1st, having the 1st chance to red light. They'll win lots of rounds because of that.

Another reason is because they'll be coming from behind, therefore will know exactly where their opponent is, as they near the finish line.

Another reason is because they'll be going much faster than their opponent at the finish line, which will make it much harder for their opponent to tell exactly where the faster car is & how fast it is approaching.

Then I suppose there are just lots of guys who like to go quicker & faster, but wanna stay in Stock or Super Stock.

Low 9's is about the quickest most of the alum head 428 SS cars will run, on a regular basis. But there are a lot of mid to low 8 sec FS cars, as well as some 7 sec cars.

I'm confused now. The DRC results of E-1, shows some cars winning, then losing in the same round. I ASSUME the bottom section is actually round 2, although it's labeled E-1.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

Same goes for the SS E-1 results.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

If I'm wrong on this, somebody please correct me.

In Stock, John Schole, Ryan Schloe, & C.W. Hoefer are on the pre-entry list. Lindy Lindholm & Leo Glasbrenner are also listed with Pontiac powered cars. But, Lindy's Bird was stolen & Leo hasn't run his '68 Bird at a recent race, that I've seen. Not sure if he still has it.

https://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEve...=PC1&cc=8&rn=3

In SS, Keri Angeles & Leo are listed. Don't know if Leo will be racing his Pontiac powered 4th gen, or not. Don't know if he even still has it, either.

These races are on the Lucas Oil Series div schedule.

https://www.nhra.com/lucas-oil-divis...eries-schedule

Should be some Pontiacs in action.
