Uncooperative engine
Ever have a rebuild that just won't go right? This was supposed to be simple bore block install low compression pistons. Engine was rebuilt before I bought the car but it pinged VERY badly and I think it ruined the rings because it started smoking. Last fall disassembled the engine and took the block to machine shop. Next day the guy called and said he didn't recommend rebuilding the block. Block had been bored twice already, had 3 sleeves and a hole in the block had been epoxied. I disassembled my GP engine that was a good running engine when removed and brought him that block. That was 6 months ago. I called every month. No progress. 2 days ago guy calls. Great finally done! No, block is cracked. NO IT CAN'T BE. Yes it is. He has me take the block to someone who can repair it. The new guy Magnafluxes it while I watch. 3 cracks. Now I'm out of cores. He says he can fix it so I say "sure go ahead". The engine won't see any hard use. This engine will never be done.

Did the Block's 3 cracks matter? Hold coolant pressure?

Never had a problem with them. I drove the car for over a year with them without knowing it. Guy said he would have no problem stitching them. So i told him to do it.

Now depending on where there 3 cracks are that your having stitched up I would very very closely have a shop inspect the line Bore, then when you get it home slap in new bearings and a Crank in it to check the run out .
Stitching plugs push around the block walls that there threaded into and can change clearances on you.
