Hi John: The measurements center to center on the bolt holes are 3". Hammertime Mike appears to be looking for one of these also. Post #24. I would also take one if you don't mind. Thanks. If it doesn't work out let me know. Keep me posted.

Thanks Chuckie!
Can anyone confirm the 3.0" measurement? I want be 100% sure it is correct before having them made. I looked up some of the SBC stuff and it all varied from 3.0", 3.20", 3.22", and 3.25"

John. You can take the measurement to the bank. lol I measured the adapter and the crossover with two bolts in it. But your like me confirmation.

Thanks for the post ! Yes, I'd be interested in this too. If Meziere is willing to make more than one. I'd be interested in two. Would gladly send money up front if this can happen. thanks Mike

“ If you want quick delivery I can grab some black parts from stock and modify. If you want to wait we can machine raw parts and send them for anodize so that the newly machined area is also black. For four modified parts it will be $89 per. However, if we don't have all four on-board we will need to readjust price.” I am going to order two regardless. I plan on waiting for the new raw machined parts If you guys are still in at the higher price ($89) let me know. If you’re out that’s okay. If anyone else wants in let me know ASAP.

Crap I just noticed we need our hose/fitting exits on either side of the bolt and not two exits on one side like the chebby stuff. I’ll have to ask about this.

I'm still in. If we're lucky Meziere has some raw castings without the threaded holes in them yet. Thanks for the effort !!

What is gained by using the spacer as opposed to plumbing directly into the crossover? Seems like you’re making it more complicated than it needs to be.

Hi James: I'll just pass. Probably won't use it anyway as I still have this one here. Thank again. I posted #35 a pic of the one I have. If you need any measurements of the ports let me know.

The spacer is just a way to add water lines into the crossover. The two threaded ports that are installed by the factory are usually used for accessories, so there is no where for two more, hence the adapter. I had my Son weld two -10 fittings on the crossover. post #35 has the pics. I used the two factory threaded ports, one for a temperature gauge in car and the other one for a sensor for my electric fans.

I added two fittings to the bottom of the crossover. Will be adding another one between the thermostat housing and the coolant temp fitting to hook up a bypass hose that will run down to the remote pump inlet side.

We should have the final answer today. I’m asking for 4 to be made (two for you and the other two for me). I’m making sure we can have the threaded machined fitting holes in the correct spot for our pontiacs.

Update: Unfortunately Meziere said they could not change the outlet locations to either side like a Pontiac requires, as they are pre-machined for them. I told him I'm going to pass on having the 4 parts made at this time.
I'll just wait until Precision Automotive Specialists gets them back in stock... or I'll just say screw it and weld fittings into my crossover http://www.precisionautomotivespecia...Manifolds.html

I've been on the waiting list with precision for some time now. The owner and I had some dialog way back where he was doing some design work for a unit that is better suited for street and can be used with a thermostat...this is what I understood from our conversation.

You could always drill and tap another hole in a Meziere spacer on the opposite side and plug the one not used. Just a thought. To me, one of the most enjoyable parts of building something non stock is figuring out things and making them work. It also makes it “yours” and sets you apart from the masses. Here’s a couple of pics from my first non stock cooling system. I designed and built it in the late ‘80s. Pics aren’t that old though. Modified Weiand front cover, hand made adapters to use a SBC electric water pump on top of a home made front motor plate. The Algon injection is just sitting there, I never ran it. Not in the pics is a custom billet thermostat housing with radiator cap because the radiator was lower. It all worked great.

Would i see a benefit doing that over routing the two back passages on the head to the heater nipple on the timing cover? I have the rear passages blocked off now and the heater nipple is also blocked off If something sort of simple like either option aids in additional cooling i'd like to try it. I have a road where i have to run 3rd gear at 30-35 and thats when my temps climb, especially past 95 degree outdoor temps also what size adaptor would i need for the rear round port e-heads to say a #8 line would i need? I have plenty of #8 and #10 hose around, i'd just need a few fittings. figured since i planned on flushing the cooling system, this would the perfect time to make this type of change. i run the electric water pump and 160 stat now with a good 1.25" dual core aluminum radiator and the summer night temps can still be well over 100 degrees outside. |
