The famous NSR ... did great on the race track but was a bit expensive to build Not sure why they stopped racing it, might have been ruled out by the governing body.

Correction ... that is a Honda NR500, not a NSR500.
It's a 500cc engine. At the time GP motorcycle racing rules said no more than four combustion chambers ... so Honda built a 500cc "V8" by using a common combustion chamber covering what would normally be two cylinders .. making it technically a four cylinder with eight valves per cylinder. Raced a few times, not very successfully. The road going version was the most expensive to produce motorcycle ever sold to the public.
