Lightbulb Can One Meal Change Your Life ?

Several years ago I was traveling thru
Des Moines, Iowa along I-80 and at
an exit about 5 miles west I saw one
of those state service notices at the
exit for what sounded like an interesting
place to stop and eat ….

As I sat at an outdoor table on the
grounds of a small family farm
a gentleman rolled up in a wheelchair.

He asked how the meal was.
He asked if we might visit.
What we discussed stayed with me.

Over the years I would stop on occasion
but the timing wasn’t meant to be
right for my second visit.

That changed - along with my perspective
of what Family and Food really are …

The background story of how this
restaurant came to be is here:

The man in the wheelchair was a
cardiopulmonary specialist doctor
who - out of necessity - began to
question what he was taught
and committed himself
to re-education - in the process
he fell out of favor with the conventional
medical community which had been
his career and with pharmaceutical community.

The restaurant information is here:

Almost everything on my plate today was
raised on their farm or sourced locally
and is gluten free - the recipes are family.

My visit today is here:

Can one meal change your Life ?

Definitely …..

Jim

There is definitely goodness in eating closer to the dirt so to speak. One menu item stood out to me and that is the Mediterranean meal because it is recommended as a contribution to fight Dementia. This has hit home with mom dying from it and now dad is on the same path so I've been watching what little there is known about which isn't much really. Yes, a meal, a new friend, support a small operation and the good it did for him to have a visitor, it's good.
