What controls the 2nd to 3rd shift on a turbo350 I am loosing third only when hot ?

The 2-3 shift valve in the VB controls the shift. Possible sticking valve in VB, sticking governor, or seal damage in the direct clutch pack/sealing rings. You'll need a set of tranny test gauges to troubleshoot without taking pan off. What you'll want to determine if its the VB (fixable in car) or the direct clutch pack failure (tranny rebuilt time). You hook the test gauges to the test ports on the pass side of TH350 and run with rear wheels in the air. Look for pressure to show up at each test port as the tranny tries to shift.
I did this method to determine that my 2-3 shift valve had fallen apart, without even taking the pan off.
