Div 1
There's a doubleheader @ VMP this weekend.
https://www.facebook.com/racevmp/pho...6541736374106/ Assume that maybe Adam Strang, Lauren Kanuik, & John Agneta will be there. Bruce Noland may have his '69 T/A there. There are other Pontiac powered cars in div 1. Don't know how many will show up at this race. |

Irvin Johns also has a Pontiac 428 powered Cobalt. It has won class at Indy twice. In '19, with Todd Frantz driving, & this year, with Irvin driving. Don Kennedy has a 428 powered Sunfire that is quick, also. The alum head 428 is a strong SS engine, at the current NHRA hp factor. Carroll Warling has even built an iron head 428, for his '74 Lemans. NHRA gives the #216 heads very generous port volumes. Last edited by ponyakr; 09-24-2021 at 10:19 AM. |

Julie & Randi Lyn both went a little quicker in Stock Q-2. Julie wound up at #26, & Randi Lyn at #35.
https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop Julie's 10.678 is a pretty respectable number. Don't know what her best time is, running in D/SA. Nowadays, you never know when/if a car is running all-out, or sandbaggin to protect their combo, by preventing an NHRA hp factor increase. No good reason to make your combo less competitive, just to see your name higher up on a Q-list. She went 10.597 at this 2020 race. Good enuff for the #19 position. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2020#indextop The SS Pontiacs didn't run any quicker in Q-2, therefore dropped a few numbers, on the list. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop Last edited by ponyakr; 09-24-2021 at 06:31 PM. |

Bruce Noland has won 4 rounds of Stock elims. There are 6 cars left. He ran a 10.545 in round 1. I assume that's a new best for the car, in competition.

Julie Biermann survived E-1, when her opponent went too quick, or as they say: "Took too much stripe".
Randi Lyn had a heads-up D/SA run with a quicker car. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop Lots of Stock racers, who have quick cars, say that's the only reason they continue to race in the Stock class, is because of the heads-up no breakout rule. Most of those with really slow cars(against their index), don't seem to like the heads-up rule as much. They tend to like the dial-your-own, breakout racing. Greg Meyer & Robert Cruzen won their 1st round of Super Stock. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop Last edited by ponyakr; 09-25-2021 at 11:55 AM. |

Bruce Noland apparently had mechanical problems in the semi-final & had to settle for 3rd place.
https://www.nhra.com/results/2021/lu...ock-eliminator Hope it was nothing major & he can get it fixed for the 2nd race. Last edited by ponyakr; 09-25-2021 at 11:55 AM. |

Hey ya'll, Robert Cruzen is in the finals !
https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop Can't do any worse than RU. He's been cuttin some good lights. If he can do it one more time, he's got a chance. But the other guy has cut some good lights, too. Will somebody choke, in the final ? Not too many people can cut 6 real good lights, in a row. And the pressure in on, in the finals of a nat event. So, sometimes a driver will either leave too early or go to sleep & cut a really bad light, while trying to make sure he don't red-light. Therefore, some finals have been won with just mediocre lights, or even a bad light a slow cruise to the finish line. We've won & lost finals, just about every way there is to win or lose. Hey, you either get the "Thrill of victory", or the "Agony of defeat". It's that occasional "Thrill of victory" that makes it worth all the effort. |
