Wow, brought that baby back from the dead. Beautiful work.

Is there a particular color epoxy primer I should use based on the top coat color? I assume the same primer I use on the rest of the car ... will be Verdora Green ... not sure if I should use black primer or gray.

I have read that lighter colours like yellow or red look best over a white or light grey primer. Not sure if darker green needs anything specific.

I think the most important thing would be to have one uniform primer colour (think sealer) before painting.

From a practical perspective, if you want to use the 3M black dry guide coat you can't use black primer...they do make a white dry coat coat though, I assume it works the same.

The good thing about black primer if you can use it is it acts as its own guide coat, its very easy to see imperfections once you start sanding. Im using great as its closer to my final color so I have to use the guide coat.

SPI epoxy is similar (including the grey version), it cures shiny and makes it obvious where you have sanded or are still low.

I haven't checked a ton of Pontiacs for primer color but seems to me that every one I have looked at....maybe half a dozen or so... used red primer.

Wonder if SPI sells a red-oxide colored epoxy primer.
