Joining the 9 Sec Club!
I have not posted much lately- work, family, etc getting in the way of my hobby We did make it out to Milwaukee for a late season TnT and managed to break into the 9's on my second pass of the day. Air was good at approx 400 ft DA with a 5mph head wind. Unfortunately did not get many runs in as the track was getting beat to hell by the street cars and two oil downs.
Just for kicks I wanted to see if more gearing would improve 60ft time so bolted on my 26" hoosiers (normally run a 28) . Made that run keeping an eye on the tach, and was just tickling the rev limiter at 7200 rpm at the stripe. Normally run 6500 at the stripe with 28" tires. Did not pick up any 60ft ET with the shorter tires- even though they seemed to hook perfectly. Here is the 9 sec run with 28" tires and the timeslip with the 26" tire.

I'm jealous, too.
I was poised to go out once more but am afraid I missed my window of opportunity. Everything is closed for the season now. K

congrats ...
I was feeling proud as I too joined the 9 sec club just a week ago ... but then I saw the mention of you having D-ports and it somewhat deflated my sense of accomplishment...thanks for that Wow that's really impressive.
I used to like having a fast d-port street car (mid 10s best) as in today's Pontiac racing world it made me a bigger fish in a smaller pond so to speak, and now I'm just another guy with high -ports. Please, do tell though; I would love to hear the specifics on this 9 sec d-port machine. |

Hey Bill- indeed your old cam and a little head work was the only difference from my previous combo, which had a best ET of 10.35 in similar race conditions (about +40hp on the dyno) Only other difference was that previous combo had TH400 with low 1-2 gear set and 3.50 in the rear. Now have standard tranny gears, a brake, and 3.80 in the rear.

Its a great accomplishment. When my car's usual 10.05-10.10 came up 9.93 @136, I was beyond elated - i was having a rough weekend and then the stars aligned. Well done!

"I would love to hear the specifics on this 9 sec d-port machine"
Let me know if you have any specific questions. Nothing real special beyond what is shown in my signature. Suspension works well with 175lb Santuff springs upfront, Calvert single leaf in rear, caltrac bars, Viking warrior shocks front/rear. Smith Racecraft upper and lower A arms and rear shock relocation (lower shock mounts to stock location while upper shock is inboard of the frame, and in front of axle. Darby shot a nice video here that shows the rear suspension at work. You can really see the hit to the tires while body is separating. I would like to do more suspension tuning, but seems every TnT day lately has been a bit of a **** show of oil downs and wrecks https://youtube.com/shorts/Dzk7hFMuJF0?feature=shared Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
