Only real change is the convertor..I swapped the Continental 10 3200 for a UCC 10 inch 3800/4000. At the moment I'm not sure on the exact flash stall. I also planned on swapping my gearing to 3.42's...but after driving with the new convertor..it really feels about the same on the street. So I left the gearing alone.
I'm hoping with traction to pick up a bit of 60ft time ..but at the same time hoping the top end mph stays the same and doesn't suffer with the slightly looser convertor.
Good luck! Thanks for the update.

Well I never made it on the planned Saturday. I finally made it last Sunday to TMP in Cayuga..first time there.
Only made one pass..my fuel pump was acting up and I believe caused the lack lustre performance.
Personal "worst" with full traction 7.171 1/8 th mile/95.71 11.300 at 118.80 1.614 60ft...well off by 5 tenths and 7 mph what it should run.
Even with the car running like crap I had some people stopping by telling me how quick it was. The cool part about this track is the return road runs in front of the grandstand...so you actually see spectators giving you the thumbs up as you drive by.
I'm heading back down this weekend with a new pump for redemption..I can't stand running slow.

Well., I think that's funny right there. I'm hoping to get in the high 11's if I ever get to the track.
Maybe you should have said 'slower than what it should/expected.

Very Nice work there ta man.

Pulling for you to do a sub 11 second pass with your latest parts soon.

Chit fails. So how many hundreds of passes did you have on the other fuel pump and what kind was it?

It had quite a few passes on it, but a lot of street miles. It's was a Mallory 140. I ran it deadheaded which I think killed it over time..I need to put a return on the new one in winter and use my return regulator to make it last longer.
The car normally runs sub 10's 10.8 /125 give or take..that's why this was disappointing. It felt flat..and actually died after the stripe...

That's too funny...11.30's a major subpar performance...LOL
If you remember, take some pictures of your fuel system, when You are under the car..
Thanks Jeff

Pure speculation on my part, but a comment regarding a lot of street miles with the fuel pump. A good tech article suggested electric pumps with huge gallon-per-hour numbers for race applications are often not always rated for continuous duty and can fail on a daily driver.

Yep. I've run the same Mallory 140 on my chevelle for a couple of decades now. Mine utilizes a return line. Was going to the track with it 2-3 times a year but it was primarily street driven 2-3 days a week. I've been rebuilding the pump every 4-5 years with that driving routine. Like clock work it would die. I've rebuilt the pump 3 times, and the last 2-3 years the car has been doing a lot of sitting, but wouldn't be long with some driving it will start acting up and due for another rebuild. I can usually tell it starts sounding funny, and it's there.

So this week I ordered a Tanks Inc setup for it, 400 lph in tank pump, new 1/2" feed and return lines etc....
I'm finally ditching that daggum Mallory.

How does one install the Tanks Inc pump in an old tank? Do you need an adapter or a plate or make a new hole?

tanksinc sells just the pump & baffle module to retrofit into an older tank. based on the install videos they have & articles ive read about the install the pump has a template or just uses the mounting ring as a template for install. for a couple hundred bucks more you can just get the complete tank/pump set up & bolt it in. then maybe sell your old tank. thats what im debating on doing since i dont really want the hassle of drilling a hole in a tank with fuel in it. keep in mind, tanksinc & others say you still need 1/2 tank for drag racing at your level with good traction....

https://www.tanksinc.com/index.cfm/p...prod/prd84.htm

there are also other companies offering a drop in pump module, aeromotive has a nice one that uses a foam ring like in fuel cells as a baffle.

I just buy the tank and all. Makes things pretty easy that way and they are relatively inexpensive. Comes with a notched sump for the sending unit and pump so there is room when installed against the trunk floor, it's baffled and ready to go, powder coated for that price too.

I've done a few of these setups and they have worked flawlessly. Dad has had this setup in his GTO for 5-6 years now as well.

I don't know why I've waited this long to do my own car, lol.

I wouldn't bother doing that, get the tanks inc and be done with it. Well worth the money. A friend had one blow up on him lol.

You talking about Andy?

He weighs about 350 lbs and that tank knocked him on his a$$ about 20 feet down the driveway

Always a risky deal. The new tanks from Tank Inc are nice, and since they haven't had fuel in them you can modify easily without fear. I usually add the evap connections to them when necessary, as I'll be doing on this new unit as well.

Thanks..I will see how the Mallory lasts with the return setup. The Tanks Inc is a nice setup.. and very cost effective.

I have run the HP 150 at 10.60,s and it's been great & it's deadheaded with no return! It's all coming out next week when my EFI is all done. Let me know if you need a better pump! I used to have the Mallory 140 before. I have the tanks inc for mine now with the whole set up. Very clean & tidy. If it gets completed in time we will be there at Cayuga dialling in. My tuner says I'll get 70-80 lbs torque gain with the coil on plugs! I hope it's true.

Sounds good..how long does Cayuga usually run..till it snows? 70 to 80 ft/lbs seems a little optimistic..? I m either going this friday or Saturday depends on weather.

Good to see u got out agin Ernie...to bad about the pump issue though.....something I'll toss in on the Tanks inc set up ....
I bought the tanks inc setup and installed it in my 73 .....works great
I bought the insert to weld into the tank to get the pump assembly lower into the tank for clearance ....hindsight ...for additional cost Leaks at the weld after it was welded by a reputable welder And the pissin around I wish I bought there tank already to go.....but is what it is.....
Oh and I wish I was a slow as u. On those runs.....lol
