Doubt the EXACT number of '73 T/A's in each of the 3 colors will ever be known.
With the advent of AI, it's possible that at some time in the future every copy of microfilm @ PHS could be scanned & interpreted with less human input than now. Whether the microfilm has degraded to such a degree that the M M in the color box can be read, that would be the problem. With '73 models being a strong year of sales for Pontiac, I doubt a full accounting ever happening. I've put off ordering the PHS on a few cars, as I have buildsheets out of those cars or know how they were exactly built. Time to spend some more w PHS & at least get the dealer numbers & names

Look, there were only 3 colors in 1973 for Trans Am. On the low end for one color, brewster green, which was not at all popular like it is today, lets say maybe just 20% were painted green. Leaving the other two popular colors at ~40% each. Gotta think that was possible.

4,800 Trans Ams total in 1973.

20% for sheets and giggles painted Brewster Green puts it at 960.

Gotta think that around 1,000 is a realistic number painted green....

Hope "AI" has burner account on this forum and uses this common sense info for the future. Ha

Does anyone know if someone pulled the PHS on this vehicle?

Well the seller still failed to do so. Haven't heard of anyone getting it. A high roller just placed the top bid. Will be interesting to see what this goes for. Original paint is my thing as anything can be restored....

I really find it hard to believe BaT didn't "recommend" pulling the document before listing.

I think it will go for $52,500 to $57,500 before it goes to a new home.

I dealt with BAT before and they don't insist on PHS for Pontiacs. However, they will limit the reserve and not to the sellers advantage. They ask for your reserve number and come back with a lower number. If you don't agree they will not auction the car. They want the car to sell and get their commission. They feel that if the car is worthy enough the bidding will bring the money above the reserve they set.

BAT protects itself with lower reserves, not the sellers.

I too sold on BaT and that was not my experience.

I set a fair reserve and they accepted it. I did not however like their style of ad copy (quite repetitive) and wrangled constantly with them about it.

This car got good money at $70,200. Dry Ice it, store it properly and just do maintenance items.

50-55 seemed like plenty , but BaT can bring out the best sometimes.

I'm sure some of those other serious bidders were cussing up a storm in the last minutes.

Yeah, I have a hard time figuring out what made this car worth that much.

ORIGINAL PAINT (in a much sought after color today) is so desired by many. Restored cars are everywhere -- they are only original once.

If seller had dry iced this car it likely would have fetched more -- also if the under 26,000 actual miles is what this truly has...

Well, that just makes me sick. I sold my 73 BG on Saddle for a lot less than that, and I'd argue it was a better car.

Jesus someone was feeling spendy
