Prayers please
My little girl spiked a fever last night of 105 for no reason so we took her to the ER and they gave her ibuprofen and Tylenol and got her fever under control. Today she is no better so we paged her pediatrician and he said it was a virus going around and we just had to ride it out. She’s alternating between 101 and 104 something depending on how much Tylenol she has in her. We can only give it every three hours because of her age and size. I am really worried about her, she has never been this sick before. Prayers please.

Prayers sent here too, could you please tell us the girls first name, easier to pray when we know the first name at least, TY.
If it's of any conciliation to you and your family, I asked my wife who is a 20 plus year RN, if she would be worried if it was a patient of hers. She said as long as there are no other health issues, the Tylenol should be all she needs to bring the fever down, and just as you eluded to, the virus will run it's course without any lasting effects. I realize how tough it is to see your own children in this situation, be strong and know that others here, will also pray for your daughter. The members here are very supportive when families need prayer. |

We had a similar situation with my son when he was around 5 years old.
We don't know what caused it. My son began feeling bad, and we found he had a fever of 103. We took him to the doctor, and it was 104 by that time. They told us to get him to the emergency room, which we did. They put him in a cold water bath to get his temperature down. He wasn't a happy camper but with a combination of tylenol and a cold bath, the temperature came down. He had no cold or flu like symptoms, no sore throats, no runny nose, no other problems. There were no infections found at all. He spent the night in the hospital, running an on and off again fever for that night and into the next day. The fever broke around noon the next day, and he was back to normal. The weird thing about it is that we never knew exactly what caused the problem because the doctor blamed an un-named virus. That was about 25 years ago, and there were no residual effects that we are aware of. He is married with a baby of his own. It is very scary, but because a small child has a relatively small body mass, fevers can become elevated very quickly. Mike |

Hop she gets better soon. We went through this with my daughter a few years ago. We alternated Tylenol and Advil which seemed to work well.

Prayers sent. My oldest son went through similar spiking fever when he was seven. Over 103-104 fever. Trip to ER. I was scared but Doc said kids can run fevers that high (105) with viral infections and that it’s important to alternate fever reducers to combat high temps. My little guy is now 21 and a Marine. Didn’t effect his health at all. Be strong for your family. We’ll continue praying, keep us posted.

We went through the same thing with my son. 25 years ago as well. We were so scared and felt helpless. He got to 105 degrees and we really freaked out. Our doctor said to treat it with Tylenol and keep him cooled. It all worked out, but what a scare for a couple of young parents.
Hoping that it will pass quickly. |

You need to get that temp down. I had a 105 temp for a couple days 20 years ago. The ER said it was either get in an ice water tub or they can put a recirculating water pad under you. Think I mumbled something about not moving, so they did the pad. It worked but I was frozen by the time they turned that thing off. I was in the hospital for a week and they never did find out what caused it.
