Afb carburetor adjustment help needed
My 66 Lemans 326 HO 4 speed seems to almost always jump up to the high speed idle when stopping. I can slow the idle down if I step on the brake and let the clutch out a little bit. It has the original choke on it. How can I keep the idle to stay on the low idle after warm up?

Clean out the soot in choke lines and choke channel in carb and do NOT have the crossover channel closed in intake.
Other than that, follow the adjustment procedure in shop manual. |

Make sure the choke tube INSIDE the intake isn't burnt out before doing anything.

I checked the tubes and they were open as was the intake manifold. Just to be sure I sprayed cleaner throughout. When I blew air into the intake air came out the other side so I assume that's OK. I haven't retried it yet but is all the choke tube as it should be? BTW that black material around the tube inlet is old sealant.

To be on the safe side start the engine and make sure no EXHAUST comes out either of the manifold tubes.

I see you have a 65 manifold, you need to check the black choke cap on the side of the carb when the engine is hot. If your choke isn't wide open it needs to be backed off until the choke is wide open. After checking I see they still used that type of choke for the four barrels. The two barrels and three duece manifolds used the new style choke stove.
