Life reaches out and grabs people by the balls daily.

In the course of a day we forget what it is to be alive, with hopes dreams and (for us on the website here) the thought of being with other Pontiac guys at PY, Norwalk, POCI, Pontiac Heaven etc on these Boards and in the garage. Let alone family and friends.

Why we get caught up in the little nuisances of life, I don't know. Human nature I guess.

If for no other reason, take time to smell the roses (or in my case auto trans fluid and gear oil) and enjoy something today.

Make yourself smile today, and you will probably make someone else smile too.

RIP Paul

Update on your update:

Santa Clarita, California (CNN) -- [Breaking news update, published 5:21 p.m.]

A Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman says investigators have been unable to find evidence of a second car in the accident that killed actor Paul Walker and another man on Saturday. They are now focusing on speed as the chief factor in the accident, the spokesman said.

It now seems that a mechanical failure was the cause of the wreck.

I call bull on that. We all know what happens when your power steering fails.

Different beast. This Porsche is the devil in desquise - full blown race car not intended for the street. I'd bet a car of this caliber doesn't have power steering. Cost was a half million when new in 2005. If the steering fails on this monster things get get ugly fast especially if your driving fast in an area not intended for speed. If the same thing happened while on a track, the outcome may have been very different.

If they rule steering failure with driving beyond the street speed limits, I'll run with that.

Really, Jim? That was bad taste on your part taking a cheap shot like that. I shouldn't be surprised.

Lightbulb Thanks for the link

Richard,

Thanks for the link ...

Might be the stalling issue kicked in and they were driving too fast ...

I am not sure how that Porsche handles when it stalls,
but I imagine you might lose power steering and brakes.

The car would be a brick headed for a wall ....

Really very sad

Here is a video that was caught on a security camera of the actual crash. It is not a very good video but it shows how quickly the car was engulfed in flames.

Might never know for sure but to me it looks like a spin out in a sweeping turn, at a very high rate of speed unfortunately.

From what I know, this Porsche is like a Formula car which have stiff suspension and are easy to spin out even on the track. Looks like the driver only had experience with production-based race cars, which are easier to drive.

I have heard Paul was about to leave the event in a truck when the driver waived him down to ride in the CGT. Sad.

From what I understand, when people from his company got to the scene only a couple of minutes after the crash, the car was on fire and the two were inside unconscious. My guess is that the flames were too intense for anyone to get near the car and pull them out. Its been reported that both could only be identified by dental records.

I think at this point that its clear the car failed somehow. Its not clear but almost expected that they were driving too fast. The only question is at what point did both of them get killed? Upon impact or from the fire.

hmmmm -

Paul Walker was best known for his action-packed films, but many are remembering the late actor, who died on Saturday in a fiery car crash, as a big softie with a huge heart.

During the holiday season several years ago, the "Fast & Furious" actor walked into Bailey Banks and Biddle Jewelers in Santa Barbara, California, and, according to sales associate Irene King, what happened next was practically out of a feel-good Hollywood movie.
King told CBS Los Angeles that an associate nudged her and said, “There’s Paul Walker.”

“Oh, OK, yeah,” King replied with a smile. “I said, ‘Yeah, he’s a nice-looking man.’”

Walker was browsing for bling at the same time as a soldier who had just finished his first tour of duty in Iraq, and was looking at engagement rings with his fiancée.

Paul Walker was just a genuine guy. (Splash News)

According to King, the pair saw a ring set they liked, but it was way too expensive and boasted a hefty $10,000 price tag.

In comes Walker. The blue-eyed actor called the store's manager and told him to put the ring that the couple was looking at "on his tab," but to keep his identity hidden. He promptly walked out of the store. According to King, the store never told the couple that Walker was the man behind the purchase, and nobody ever knew the sweet story until now.

King posted the story on the 40-year-old actor's Facebook page, among thousands of other anecdotes where people remembered him as "generous," "loving," and with a "heart of pure gold." Walker was a dedicated supporter of charities like the Billfish Foundation, and could always be counted on to raise funds for those in need. He founded his own organization, Reach Out Worldwide, after the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

"To do something like that to a perfect stranger is just unbelievable,” King said.

In this case, it appears that Paul Walker's generosity shined brighter than any diamond.
