Hows this sound for a combo.455 with 6x heads, std bore. 507/510, 284/296(240/246), turbo 400, 3.55s. I think it will be too much cam above 6000. would the .488/.491, 274/286, (230/236) be a better choice. thse are both comp cams grinds, XE 284 and XE 274 respectively. I will run Rhoads lifters in both and wanted to run a 2000 stall tourqu convertor. another question, can a cam with higher duration, ie higher powerband be degreed in so that the motor thinks that it has less duration, but same lift. i will be using stock rods with ARP bolts, and with 3.55 or 3.42s have no need to ever see 5500+ at all. thanks for any help, and sorry about another cam question.

Joe, I would use the 230/236 with your combination and a 2600-2800 stall covertor would be closer to your needs.

Good luck

I have the 274 extreme energy cam in my car and it seems very tame. The idle with my 455 is almost stock. I have the A/C on it now and it handels that ok also. Its smoother than my 400 was with a comp cams 268 cam. I am running a 4 speed if that makes any difference. If I leave at idle and then mash the pedal first will spin most of the time but if I leave at 1500 or higher it will spin real bad.
