Looks extremely good. I can't wait to get that far, I'm almost done with the frame and then I'll probably move to the underside of the car. I'm not sure what to coat it with though, part of me wants to go with POR-15.

If I happen to get a free round trip airline ticket in the mail, I'll be there.

Looking like it's coming together nicely...
and PS- Thanks for re-arranging the spacing between or reducing the size of the pics (whoever did it?). Makes the thread SO much easier to read and view!

Got the motor fired, still have some time before its broken in fully and have a buddy over to adjust the timing. Here is a short vid....

Post-breakin update time. Have one loose rocker (you can hear it in the vid initially) and one small oil leak from the front of the motor. Cant tell where that is coming from yet. NO rear main oil leak so I'm glad to see I did that right. Used the graphite rope seal. I did it in 3 or 4 sessions since I was doing it by myself and shutoff when the temp started to climb. Upon the final leg the oil pressure needle decided to leave this world. I hope that is not going to be a pricey fix. Noticed on the final leg everything must've started to be happy with their new home cuz the temp remained pretty stable. I flogged on it pretty good and I have to say (with the exception of the loose rocker) it sounds pretty badass thru the RA manifolds.

Hey Jeremy, congrats on your startup. I listened to your video and didn't exactly hear the lifter noise but did notice that the ignition timing sounds very retarded. That could also be partially responsible for elevated water temp. Did you set the timing or just ballpark it??

Since it was just me I had to run it at whatever it would run at since it wont idle. (due to the timing ) I agree the timing is probably retarded. I had the distributor all the way advanced for it to run. Need to pop the distributor out and move it over a tooth I think.

Shouldn't have to pull it out to adjust the timing...unless your distributor is bumping up against something and you physically can't get it to move any further?

Well, it turns out the "loose rocker" noise was due to some intake bolts backing off and exhaust leaking thru the crossover. Got the timing closer to the range and sounds MUCH better now. I'm pretty stoked! Now to replace a radiator in my pickup....

Not sure if I mentioned previously but this is my first complete motor build.
