PB scores another 72
Quote:
I went with my emotions as well when I bought my 71 GT-37 that had the 455HO, M-22, 12 bolt posi rear. Which is a very desirable drivetrain IMO, and room to grow as far as value. My first reaction it is not a GTO or even loaded with options(hardly any). Came with a radio delete too! But, in the end I felt that this orphan needed a home, and I like the fact that it had a lightweight front end, and was touted as the poor mans GTO, and with the HO it is the "poor mans Judge". It even has eyebrow stripes, and hood pins for the boy racer look. Also, it was the color of the ad, Canyon Copper, and I really wanted something a little more unique too. You can't go wrong with an HO today! |

Not worth 25K in that condition.

hmmmm.....I found it worth 25K in that condition. A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay. And, I don't think 25K was too much for what I got and for what the car is. There are other items included with this deal that isn't printed in the AD. I'm excited to get the car Funny thing is, I've already had offers to buy the car, so I think I made a good decision.

Don't sweat the naysayers Pat. I agree you will reap the rewards in the future. I am sure many said the same thing in the late 80's and 90's about SD T/A's. My old HPP classifieds speak for themselves.

Take into account it has all of the original components (carb, dist, air cleaner, engine, diff etc.), that means a lot to collectors. Most of us that have restored cars can appreciate having the original parts & not spend countless hours (and $$$) searching for "correct" parts.
That is a rare & desirable car, one day we'll see a write up on it in a magazine article & say to ourselves "hey, I remember when I could have bought that # matching 455 HO Lemans off of ebay for only $25K!" Nice car Pat! |

I think you paid a fair price for it. Those '71 and '72's are way cool with an HO and a stick.

Couldn't agree more
It is a little dirty, and it is because it is driven hard. The 71-72 455 HO with Ram Air, Stick with 3:55 12 Bolt posi and a hood tach are the dope!

Thanks everyone, I can appreciate ALL opinions on the car. I too think that this car's value will drastically increase, but who knows. A friend of mine wrote me and said that this car is a True Sleeper car, straight from the factory. I thought that would be a good licence plate.. TRUSLPR or maybe X N VIN some other items are an NOS set of 455 fender emblems, some extra Ram Air pieces, has the original AM/FM Stereo, a picture album of the car with other 72 dealer items, plus a few other "goodies" he's stored away for the resto of the car Along with all the other extra items listed in the auction. I hope I have enough room to haul it all back Pat

Judge...That 72 Looks Gorgeous!! I need more pictures that that!
I can't believe that ALL the original parts are still there after all these years AND for being a daily driver car. Yes, it looks rough, but because it was driven. Thank goodness this was in a salt free-non winter environment, otherwise this car would surely be scrap metal by now.

Pat, you did well, my friend. A car is worht what someone is willing to pay for it. Your already having received offers to buy it from you says it all.
Once again, congrats!

Yup! Going back to original, from the build sheet. HOWEVER, I think I will leave off the Body side mouldings. I hate those things. Takes away the great lines of the car. don't know if that will have an impact on value or not. I think it would be worth more without

I don't like those mouldings as well. Like you said, takes away from the lines of the car. I never liked the stripes they put on the '72's either. I keep looking at those pictures and I'm green.
