I worked with a guy from South Carolina and mentioned I was working on a GTO. Without delay he said, God Takes Over, in reference to reaching triple digit speeds. Never heard that before or since.

One of the GTO shirts we sold in our former T shirt business, this was the back of the shirt, the front had a left breast small three letter GTO insignia:
BACK  FRONT  It was suggested to me by a patron of the Chicago area Crusin Tigers GTO show one year, the following year I gave him a free T shirt for his suggestion..........  That was the first time I had heard that particular acronym of what GTO stood for, and I liked the message so well that I designed a shirt, added the "Got Religion" to it and had them printed up for sale .....  This was in, or around 2009. We sold a lot of those shirts until we closed the business in 2012.I wanted the 65 GTO style speedometer with the checkered flag unfurling, but the designer only had crossed checkered flags available, but you still get the idea. I tried to get the GTO speedometer from online pictures to use, but the examples I found were rather small, too small to get the details.
