LS Rockers
Maybe a dumb question. Maybe the centerline from the trunion to valve and trunion to pushrod are different? Just curious. They are a lot more affordable. Maybe the more experienced forum members can tell me if this would work?

Why stop there? I think a Pontiac fella ought to assess the total LS deal grafted onto the old iron head:
Valve stem size & guides. Valve lengths? Beehive springs and them tight STOCK retainers, keepers. No Ti retainers. Rockers Pushrod diameter Roller Lifters. Was my next thing to look at but sold my last set of Heads (48's). |

Look at Crower 0.090 offset trunnion BBC . BBC rocker bodies are 0/120 longer trunnion to roller tip than BBC
Also most folks when they measure actual ratio get 1.70+ for Harland Sharp 1.65s.

Ford Windsor rocker arms usually have the same dimensions as Pontiac. LS isn’t anymore affordable than a Ford Windsor. Harlan Sharp for a Pontiac are decently priced IMHO, Crower are expensive but among the best. Comp Cams Ultra Pro has some nice Ford Windsor rockers are outstanding on Pontiacs too.
If you had a rocker arm you could mock it up and try it. Seems like a waste of money to try something without more info. Ford Windsor and Pontiac is about .060” longer from the trunnion to tip against a SBC. A BBC is longer, don’t know about a LS. Last edited by Jay S; 12-05-2023 at 07:35 AM. |

I do have a Crower 1.6 SBF that is shorter than my Pontiacs not sure if they all are. There are also 1.33 break in rockers for a SBF I have used-got from Paul Spotts.
I have a bunch of singles as I did mock a bunch up looking for a higher ratio. Ended up with the Crower 1.8 offset trunnions on my E head 455. A local buddy used some on one of his iron head motors. They usually do not require grinding the head for pushrod clearance.
