What is the part number and is it reproduced?

My Sept. 69 and May 75 parts book shows the part number as 9773870. As far as I know it is not reproduced; if it was I'm sure it would be listed in the aftermarket parts catalogs. This has come up on other forums and it was noted that with some modifications the later (65 +) can be made to fit, though of course not concourse correct.

Think I still have one that I modified a few years ago and like 3 deuces said it's not concourse. PM if interested and I can grab a picture or 2.

I know that 1965 and later bellhousings have a 1/2 moon opening at the bottom of the bellhousing where you could look inside a bit with a flexible light wand and maybe see some things inside.
The 64 GTO bellhousing does NOT have that 1/2 moon opening at the bottom of the bellhousing where you could look inside. If I remember correctly, as I went to a Lakewood housing a long time ago, the 64 metal piece that sealed the front, not bottom, of the bellhousing from dirt and other road trash was designed to slip over the crankshaft before the flywheel was installed. Am I remembering correctly on this guys? Tom V.

Hello ole friend Tom!! The shield slipped over the starter snout before installing the starter. Most of us cut the top off the shroud so it could be remover without removing the starter.
