Learning more about these lenses
I have received an NOS in the box part the box has PN 5960508 The lens inside has this on the lens: GUIDE 22 SAE IP 70 MADE IN USA 5960552 2 So it is possible the correct part number on the lens is 5960552 with a date code of 70 This would be correct for my 1970 Still looking for one NOS or mint lens with these markings. Thanks, Bob

Parts made up of more than one part internally will have multiple part numbers. Each part will have its own part number per the factory but the parts cannot be purchased individually, only as an assembly of 1 part. That part, as an assembly, has a part number that may or may not show up on the part itself but shows up in the parts book and on the package.
Another scenario is if the part comes with any hardware. A part with hardware included is typically labeled a "kit" and carries a part number that will be different than what is on the part itself. |

AHHHH now I understand, so the lens and the silver reflector attached to the lens each have a separate part number , but together they have an assembly part number.
Thanks for helping me understand how it works. Thanks, Bob R Also to anyone reading this i am still looking for 1 NOS 70 Firebird park light lens

Yours has a shield making it 2 piece. '70 - '72 GTO tail lamp lenses have a reflector, a back-up lens and I think 1 or 2 other pieces. The '67 Tempest and/or LeMans tail lamp lenses share the same process as an '86 - '88 Fiero GT tail lamp lens in that they had an inner and outer lens heat molded together to form 1 lens assembly. Make thing very difficult to figure out when you don't know and don't have the box. |
