1970 Judge trunklid inner structure ?
I just had someone come by to look at some of my old parts. A question came up about the inner panel of the trunklid. He said it looked wrong where the wing bolts on. Can anyone post a picture of the inside of a correct 1970 trunklid? Also were there differences between the years, 1970, 1971 and 1972? Thanks for any help.

Notice how the early 70 lids have holes in the outer bracing? Perhaps they were planning to have the wing mount that far out originally?
I have a couple late 69 lids with the same outside holes in the inner structure. Then sometime mid year 70 they removed the holes since they were not needed. |

The early 70 Judge wing was a lightweight and wide mount, it mounted where the holes were punched out. Later in 70, the design changed to a narrow lightweight that attached through the inner and outer structure, then again changed to the narrow heavyweight which is most common. My guess for the changes are the first design was denting the decklid and pedestals were cracking. People were also probably using the spoiler to close the trunk, leaning on them, etc.

1)the early 70 cars had 4 inner and 4 outer holes,2)the late 70 and 71 cars had 4 inner holes3)the 72 cars had 4 inner holes and oval cutouts on each side,as an early style crumple zone ,much like the 4 squares in the hood, reason why they always kink
