I miss the good old days, back in the late 70's early 80's when it was held in Indy.

When the police would actually beat spectators with clubs in the streets...

I'll probably attend as a spectator, but I don't think I'll bring my car in... the $55 entry fee is pretty steep for a car show.

What kind of turnout has this been generating the last few years? I attended the last few years in Indy, all Springfield, IL events and the first couple in Duqoin. Wouldn't mind getting back into it if there was a good turnout. Funny how the first few years you had to send in your application and hope you made it into the show. Had a great time cruising the brickyard in a '69 Firebird back in '79(I think).

I should be there with the old Discomobile. Waiting on an Elc. water pump to fix a cooling issue. (I hope)

And I get a hold of my ins. agent too!

Might have to skip the mufflers tho not enought time.

It is a pretty good show. I don't know exact attendance but I'll guess they get about 1500 cars. As with most shows, a lot of the cars aren't anything special but there will be quite a few nice ones as well. There's always a ton of Mustangs and Camaros, and for whatever reason Minneapolis-St. Paul seems to be a hotbed for old Mopars -- there's always a bunch of Hemi Cudas and Roadrunners and early 60's Max Wedge cars, that sort of thing. Not too many Pontiacs, though. They have a fair amount of vendors and a portable dyno set up for horsepower challenges. They used to have burnout contests and a demolition derby, but the fairgrounds tore up the racetrack area so I don't think they do those things anymore.

Wow, I didn't think it was that many. Then again I'm not very good at estimating crowds. The cars are spread out quite a bit over the fairgrounds (for people who've never been to the Minnesota State Fair, it's a great place for a car show - plenty of room, a good street layout, lots of nice shady trees.)

If I remember correctly, last year I went there on Sunday, and everyone was saying there had been lots more cars the day before.

The weather report (so far) is looking pretty good for the weekend, which should help attendance.

They have a drag simulator there this year, I guess its a prostock cars. They have the burnout, Miss Carcraft contest too. Lots of other stuff going on. I like the dyno. kinda just watch it all day if I could. Very impressive cars wide open for 2 pulls. Last year I ran mine, they liked it well enough to put in the Dec.issue...15 dyno proven combo. Look it up at www.carcraft.com in events section, 15 dyno proven combos. My car this year would pull more....but I'm still restoring it. So this year I'm driving a friend's red 70 gto convertible that's prestine...great bud to give me a drive in a gto it been awhile since I have driven mine!

pchris, you have to be the first 30 people in line(at the dyno in morning) per day to get on the dyno. So be one of the first 30 your in....it fills within 20 min of being open.Took me two years of trying and I got lucky I was 5th in line Friday last year.

The CC Nationals in E St.Louis in '85 was my first big car show.I came home on leave from Germany for 2 weeks and went with my uncle and cousin.I was like a kid in a candystore, took 3 or 4 rolls of film,it was awsome.Met up with my cousin after lunch. He asks about how many and what I was taking pics of.Cars of course. He said with all of the mostly naked girls around and several lifting their tops just because they were asked and your taking pics of cars?
With of the awsome cars and parts and stuff I really didn't noticed much else.I was 19

all I can say is its a great time especially if your young and single ( mabe even just single Like the other guy said lots of cars ,girls, Burnouts , police, you name it it was there, not to many tops though especially as night time rolled around and the cruze started, I probably would not take a car though its more fun to walk the cruze and see more

Ahhh, the good ole days. That was a great time. The next to last year I went was with the car I race now. Won the burnout contest in it. I was wondering the other day if they still had that show. Is Car Craft running it again or is Special Events still running it?

ONE DAY TO SUMMER NATS....I can't wait to rummble into the fairgrounds with 4500 muscle cars! The sound and sight is food for a car guy's soul! 9:00 Friday you'll find me at the dyno heckling my buddy about his '69 Judge pullin more than 313rwhp...really don't care what it makes just to see the bugger rip in front of me is going to be a dinner for the soul If he doesn't pull 313 he be buying dinner twice. I have not drivin a goat since last fall before I took my car apart....so drivin the 70 convertible will sweet time...the 3 days will go fast. Hope to see more Pontiacs than last year too.
