I'm looking for an eletric water pump for an eight bolt timing cover. Is anybody producing one? And what will I gain at the rear wheel mechanical vs eletrical?

i don't anyone makes 8 bolt electric water pump yet nor there is a big market for it to produce , now that late 11 bolters are in the market available, anyway as i replied on earlier post
"water pump drag measured on dyno" i'll say the same here,

on my race engine715+hp w/early 9 bolt cast iron water pump 68 timing cover used to be(which my understanding that early setups are more power robing&less efficient than late style)convert it to late 69 up cover w/11 bolt CSI electric water pump set up now ,done back to back chassis Dynojet tests,on a diffrent day conditions comparisons ,it was almost unoticible change even Dynojet is very soficticated equipment to check the numbers!!!!but its nice to know you have one on .

HarryK, have you had a chance to assess the relative cooling capability at the track?
Im interested because I'll be using a CSI also. primarily because a mechanical pump and belts are heavier, one switch for pump and fan and its so purty LOL. I weighed the CSR at 4 lbs, one pound less than a C.A.T. aluminum 11 bolt with iron impeller, even with a one pound pully the mechanicals are not that much more weight.

I would be more interested in an electic waterpump for the ability of the pump circulating water while in the pits with the motor not running.

Have some friends who have compared the electric vs. belt drive and on a 383 sbc, the electric water pump and removal of the altenator yielded a noticible increase in times and mph, not tenths but a hundreth or two. On a 496 bbc the difference was not noticable at all between a mechanical and electic waterpump. The only differance is the owner feels he now has an edge over the competition. I have ran a moroso electric drive on my 350p and picked up 1 mph and a few hundreths.

We use a Meziere pump on a 11 bolt cover. With the 5 row radiator, and two permacool fans, the temp didnt get to 180 idling in very slow traffic this past weekend.Nice at the track to keep the fans and pump running;shut the motor down and it cools off quickly.

BVR421: my cooling system from before was 4 row conventional Modine hi intensty radiator with 1 18" electic fan and the mechanical 9 bolt early cast iron water pump ,were at 12:compression driving around and race track was no problem at all ,
when i did engine combo change over to 13.25 at the same time i did cooling system changes to , which was plastic factory oem 2002 corvette radiator w/all factory dual fan/shroud set up (that pulls lots of air cfm'sss)and this is when i intalled the late timing cover to accomodate my new CSI electric water pump, and custom made factory style alternator relocation bracket ,no more water pump belt,at first with new combo i was'nt sure i was gonna get cooled down ,but boy it takes the $1000 Be Cool module kit for a ride around the block, cools down very good no worries at all!
only benfit is like Ventura 7211 said was circulating water while in the pits with the motor not running,so over all its not like i did 1 change at a time ,all the combo change was done at once .
