I feel your pain. My Trans Am was rear ended about 5 years ago by a DUI driver. Bent frame, buckled roof and passenger side door crushed shut, not to mention the sheet metal damage to the rear panel, lights etc. Also broke the front windshield. I was fortunate to have a local paint and body shop take on the job, and my insurance with Heacock Classic took good care of everything. It was still a major hassle. In the end though the repair was top notch; can't tell the car was ever in a wreck.

Sucks I got rear ended in one of my 69 birds by an illegal drunk driver w no insurance or reg back in the 80s. . Couldn’t get a dime except from my own insurance. My premium a went up after too to add insult to injury.
So I get how you feel. . I’ve actually only been rear ended twice. Both w those same circumstances listed. bITh by a white van and both while
Driving a convertible. But the other was a Miata. .
How weird And they were within a few year of eachother.
One was Canadian one was Mexican. Both in the middle of the day. Not even late at night.

Well there was no insurance on the truck to be driven. Only insurance fo the vehicle to be parked or garaged. I guess time to talk to a Lawyer. What a bunch of ****.

Holy Crap,
My car has been off the road for so much of the time that I have owned it, that if something like this happened to it now that it is mostly running, I’m not sure I could tolerate it. I might give up on the car. I wish you all the good fortune you need from here on.

That is definitely the best first step. I have an absolute hatred for lawyers, but something they are definitely needed. Does your state require insurance?

Wow! Kinda late to this but I agree what a shame! I can't imagine having to deal with that. But from the pictures I consider you fortunate the offending truck missed you house! I lost a very nice 65 Catalina 2+2 convertible to a drunk driver back in the late 1980's. Rear ended at 11:00 am while sitting at a Stop light. The idiot was pulling a 24' with a 1 ton PU. Pushed me into the PU in front of me, and pushed the PU into the intersection where he was broadsided. The driver in front of me was hurt by the broadside and the driver that hit him wasn't wearing a seat belt and was also injured. I was fortunate that no one was riding in the back seat for the Cat as they would have probably died. The back bumper was pushed almost into the back seat.

I know its hard but be grateful that no one at you home was injured, and the damage wasn't worse than it is. The Birds damage is a discouraging, but I hope it can be repaired.

Pretty sure. He might fall into the dreamer category at 26. They lived in CA, Hemet area before coming up here. It is known the law enforcement will rarely write an illegal a ticket for lack of insurance here because as the law enforcement says it is a waste of time. They won’t pay the fine and the courts won’t enforce it.
