Default 4L80E TPS Sensor Mounting For a Quadrajet

I recently installed a 4L80E in my 1970 GTO and have gotten to the wiring stage. I am using a US Shift Quick 4 Gen 2 controller with the HGM TPS kit 5. I see no way that this bracket can mount. It hits the intake runner with be bracket on the throttle body plate and even if it were elevated off of it, would not line up with the throttle linkage. There are only videos and instructions for the Holley and Edelbrock with zero pictures or reference to the Quadrajet (even though they claim it works for all). Does anyone have a Quadrajet setup with a TPS I can see? I don't see any possible way for this to work without extensive modification.

I use that controller on a couple 4L80 installs and have had the TPS setup for it from Hughes.

On thing I can't be sure of from your pics is that it looks like the Q-jet is sitting right on the intake with a thin gasket. It would likely help your situation if you at least used a 1/4" thick gasket (always recommended) or possibly even a 1/2" thick spacer to move the carb up away from the runners a bit for more room.

That's just my first thought from seeing what you are working with.

Holley bolt pattern is wider by .455" per side. I'm thinking a thick piece of aluminum that uses the carb's rear mounting bolt. Drill a hole to take advantage of that existing dowel, prevents any fore/aft movement. Sensor can now be moved further outboard with ease.

Simply flipping that long two piece connector will provide some additional offset towards the carb (more hassle when adjusting it's length though). Want even more offset? Sandwich an appropriately thick shim between them, with some longer SS screws. Would have a slight dogleg appearance when viewed from above but the QJ's secondary linkage shouldn't interfere as long as the TPS is mounted low enough.

Article here that shows an aftermarket TPS mounted on a Q Jet, as well as Edelbrock, and Holley. Written just for people using electronic controlled transmissions on early cars

Thank you, guys. The picture in the article looks like the put the bracket above a spacer and used a stud on the rear mounting bolt. I have some studs in the mail. I'll let you know what I cobble up.

Call them and ask.

You can always notch the runner or grind the bracket if it's the correct bracket.

The pic in the article shows a washer under the bracket, not a spacer.

If you were to space it out, it would be on the carb side of the bracket, not between the bracket and the sensor. The linkage would still line up that way.

If just using it for logging the add on bracket is where the detent cable goes for a TH350.
