Default NGK plug recommendation for iron heads

I am in the process of doing a top end swap on my 400 with flat tops and enlarged valve 1968 #15 heads. I am currently using AC Delco R43S plugs. I have heard good things about NGK. Do yall think it is worth the swap and if so, which NGK plug should I use?

The 43s are a good heat range for your motor so if there in good shape save your bucks for other things.

They are. Only 2700 miles on them. Perhaps I should leave well enough alone, but we know that can be hard to do lol.

Right Steve. They are not big bucks, but I would not replace the AC's until you are just ready to replace them anyhow. I have XR5 (3332) installed but I dont think they have much selection for a cooler heat range.

I have NGK XR-4's in the GTO and XR-5's in the Grand Prix. Since going to them I won't use anything else in my Pontiac engines.
