Probably not too bad of a price in today's climate and whizzbang on 70 TA 4spd #s cars.
The extra set of real wheels and original tires helped the value.

One poster commented he inquired about the hood , bumper , and dash bezel , for under 4k
How do those numbers break down ?
Is a hood $3000 ?

Another poster commented that the White 72 that just sold was an Auto converted to 4spd.
I missed that detail , anyone know more about that possibility ?
A correct 70 TA hood is not cheap, probably at least $2000 for the hood, plus bodywork, paint and a new stripe. The 70 dash bezel is about $1000. The nose is easy enough to do, but between finding a good candidate, body and paint, and replacing the nose bird you'd be into it for a decent amount.

Definitely not the cheapest stuff to correct.

Between the incorrect nose (& grilles), incorrect alternator, local yokel exhaust system, fake 273 carburetor, later hood, incorrect alternators, needed prep work & finishing on a correct nose & early hood, as well as decals, a person could blow a TON on this '70.

The buyer is in an unfortunate position if he bought this '70 thinking it is anywhere near a high end build. That would mean needing many thousands of $ more in reconditioned very hard to come up with original parts. One should face it, this '70 is not a very extensive 26 26 RA3 4spd high end restoration, or one of the 88 RAiV T/A's on a similar trojectory. Personally, I would be very hesitant to spend a dime remedying any of those items on this car.

On the '70-71 Bird comfortweave discussion, as soon as i can make time, will be pulling out several original panels & will begin a separate tech topic. Hopefully, many posts from this topic can be moved into that '70-73 Bird Tech Topic. Such a discussion deserves its own topic.

Okay that's where I came up short then.

I have at least one extra , plus the one in my car.
Both of those may be heading to eBay in near future.
My heirs will have to worry about the depreciation factor.
Thanks man.

Roger I agree with your assessment on the 70 overall.
But if the buyer is brave enough to make the changes now , he could break even eventually.
These cars have gone beyond any expectations I ever had.

I would leave it probably , as you say.
Ram3 cars I think White with Blue Dlx , and Blue with Black Dlx (or cloth) are the winners.
Overall majority
But that Blue Sandalwood car hit the moon Hard !
If the buyer likes the combo on the subject car as his best combo - he should stay with it and spend whatever he needs to make it his best.

Completely agree on a new dedicated thread on Comfort Weave.
I can eventually add more good original specimens to the effort.

I believe up to early 1972 Firebird Trans Ams dash bezels were the same and had the dividing line between the lights and washer buttons.

Pet peeve of mine as I can't stand when I see a later swapped bezel in an early 2nd gen.

Default another one on BAT

rather than make a NEW thread (because BAT threads are becoming common), I'm going to bump this discussion with a new one;
Roughly seven days to go, already at $51k.

Looks to be a really nice car, with indisputable(?) documentation.

Nice car and cool that the owner kept a lot of the original stuff. Too bad original fenders are gone. Can't stand seeing early 2nd gen cars with fender brace hole area in fender rails.

Neat to see original dash bezel at least.

A graveyard green 73 4spd AC was listed about the same time as the Blue 70 Automatic AC.
73 is already at 105k on the first day.
Tune in next week and see if it makes it to the 139k online asking price.

i saw that alert after the 70, but hadn’t looked at it yet.

i understand the fender quibble, but as far as i am concerned, a replacement fender (in my books) does not take away from an otherwise great car.

it’s numbers matching with almost all it’s original paperwork, plus a nearly complete built sheet.

I was surprised to see the 73 jump to that price so quickly. Actually I didn't think a 73 non-SD would get to that price at the end of the auction!
I pay more attention to the 70-72 TA's I guess.

John
