Default BARN FIND

I just pick up a 65 Catalina Ventura 421 4bl 4 speed for $1400. Engine is gone but every thing else is there. The guy even had the PHS documents for it. I thought all 421's were 2+2's but apparently you could order them in the Ventura. Has a 69 400 4bbl in it now. Car has been sitting in his garage for 17 years.

Looks like a solid car, good deal. The 421 was optional in any full size car.

Did Pontiac offer a passenger side mirror that looked like the remote mirror but wasn't remote?

Pontiac did not offer a remote right-hand mirror in these cars; such was not available until the early 70s. Based on the car order forms I just reviewed, 1974 was the first year for DUAL remote mirrors.

I am facinated to see that this Fairfax, KS built car has the Ventura badges on the fenders - no 421 badges. My father's car, which he ordered - I am now not sure what badges were on it when it was delivered. His car is a Catalina/Ventura, 421 HO 3x2bbl 4spd.
I am going to start a different thread on it.

This is the only Catalina with Ventura trim that has (or had) a 421 of any kind in it that I have ever seen.

There was an HO Ventura that was featured in Muscle Car Review magazine about 25 years ago.

I too find it interesting that it doesn't have the 421 badges on the front fenders. I've seen several non 2+2's with 421's over the years, but all but this one had the 421 badges on the fenders.

If you have a remote on the drivers side you could order a remote dummy on the passenger side... I have it on 2 of my cars

I'm extremely jealous. That's a helluva find right there. I can only hope to run across a deal like that one day.

After having this car for a couple of weeks now I've come to the conclusion that the car is just a Catalina that was ordered with a 421 4 speed and did not have the Ventura interior. It looks like someone tried to add that later. Its is now a running car and I'm working on the brakes. Other than that hickup I'm very happy with the car. I've had some interest in buying it from me but I still have it. Here's some more photos.
