72 goat control arms
Has anyone out there tried the factory type control arms that Ames and other outfits carry? My front end still has the original 40year old parts up front,I am looking to do a complete front end rebuild.Any input would be great. Brian

Are you referring to stock replacements? Stamped ones or tube type? I would stick with the original used GM ones before I put an aftermarket stamped one on, just my 2 cents.

as long as they are not wallowed out from wear, they are good, just have them blasted and painted, check for cracks.....you will need some specil tools or a machine shop to press the busings out/in..lower ball joint is pressed in too...

Do a search on this site.....I recall a thread within the last 6 months where a guy had some serious problems with some repro lower A-Arms. Believe they were from Ames as well. He posted pics, etc. Maybe it was a "bad batch" he got.

I recently rebuilt the front suspension on my '67 GTO, and I reused the orginal A-arms. I had them blasted and powder-coated, and they look and work great. My '67 wagon still retains it's original front A-arms too.
