Are these tires OK for long trips(100 miles or so) or will they wear really bad at freeway speeds?

How often do you plan on making long trips?

I've taken my Firebird on a few cross state trips (230 mi) and one up to Canada. I loose more tread on an average trip to the drag strip

Just air em up to normal pressures and it'll be ok.. I wouldn't expect more than 5k miles or so from em tho.

My brother had a set on his 95' Formula. 50 MPH on the highway around a mild corner was all it took to spin into a guard rail twice and total the car.

Be careful.

Chance favors the prepared mind.

I don't know what your brother did with his car; he must have hit a big puddle of water. I have been in a car at 150 mph with these; on the street, no problems, and well over 100mph in a corner. My friends ususally get 5k-12k out of a set and drive them as there only tire. Of course common sense would tell you to be carful in the rain with a tire that comes with only half the thread depth to begin with. I don't know how they would give you any problems other than rain. I used to drive my M&H Racemasters as my ONLY tires, and I got 11,000 miles out of them with out any kind of mishap, I guess it is how you drive...

I ran a set on my GTO for four years both street and strip (300 passes and 10,000 street miles).

You really don't have to smoke the bajesus out of them to make them work. Just a small burnout. A factor in tire life!

They handle just like a radial in the dry.

Can't provide any info about the wet, never drove the car in the rain.

These are not tires you want to push the envelope in corners on! They can pick up debris on the road if pushed hard, then your driving on marbels!

I did not have good results with the BFG's on the street or track. They wear out quickly and throw every rock you drive over up under the car. Like having two big rolls of tape back there! On the track the Ventura ripped them to shreds all the way thru first gear, 2.8-2.9 60' times. I tried every possible tire pressure, burn out and launch technique. The only way to get a decent launch was to leave from idle, let the car move just a bit and progressively apply the throttle. Did manage a 1.9-2.0 60' times with this method.......Cliff
