Default What is the brightest Orbit Orange bc/cc paint?!?

Okay, Let me explain; I'm looking for the brightest, most orangish, Orbit Orange basecoat/clearcoat paint formula.

I know there's a lot of variation between different paint brands and paint systems.

Because I'm not doing a 100% correct concours resto on some rare Judge vert, more a restomod on a regular '70 GTO vert, I've decided I want the most vibrant, bright, orangish paint around.
I just can't live with it's original dull and boring Sierra Yellow.

Problem is I can't go out and compare OO paint systems on various cars. There simply aren't any OO cars around here in Europe. At least not within 4 or 5 hours from my place.

Hopefully some of you guys can point me in the direction of the right paint brand/system.

Thanks!
Erik

Reckitt Benckiser owns the French's brand & has the recipe.

Thanks 'Ol Pinion Head!

Googled it and it is not a brand they sell here either! So I can't check that out.

Anyway, I know there's been discussions on the board as to some OO paint formulas being different from the original factory Orbit Orange paint.
I'd like to know which one is more towards orange than others....
Could that be the PPG bc/cc paint?

I can't imagine how anyone could have trouble mixing the factory orbit
orange color. It is base yellow with a small amount of base red in it. (no other colors
involved) it takes 30 seconds to mix up a batch and it always matches what you have
in my experience with the color.

Recently in another post someone had posted two formulas for Orbit orange, one version (the less expensive one) utilized 3 pigments, the upgrade used 4, if I remember correctly.

I sense a little sarcasm in 'ol pinions head's post. Think he might be referring to the recipe for French's mustard, which the bottle is probably damn close to OO. Good friend of mine has an OO 70 Judge and refers to it as his "cheez whiz" car. Seems to upset a lot of orbit owners, but he always says "I own one of those cheez whiz cars too."

You are correct Erik Sold off the 2 mustard color RAIII Judges I've owned over the years, great move both times

As far as gtohurstjudges comment that OO is not that hard to mix up, guess everyone needs him mixing the paint. I've been at national shows before & there were five different OO cars in point judging & none were the exact same color.

Good post Q. my brother's 1st OO Judge was " brilliant " on the road. Couldn't get used to seeing it on the road.

So we conjured up how to do it again with his present OO Kudge and think we got it. So, maybe it is an easy mix.

I kinda figure it was a joke, but because the French brand is unknown to me I got thrown off a bit.....
Had a laugh though when I figured it out.

Half Inch Stud, If you can give me some info on your paint mix maybe with a pic of the car I'd really appreciate it!!!

I know it's expensive, but do they sell BASF/Glasurit there?

BASF Glasurit should be available here, although I haven't checked just yet.
After all, BASF is a German company.
Don't know if they carry different paint lines here though...

I had a guy back in 1998 send a small paint chip to Toonto to have it checked out because he was having problems mixing the OO with the codes I gave him. I think it was a ditzler paint. I wet to tiger run in 2000 and there were 6 OO judges there including mine. They were a different shades . Mine seemed to be the brightest for some reason. I do know my painter cursed me as he said it was a pain to paint. Lol
