good luck on the move up, tough industry, been a agent for Landstar for over 12 years and counting. Seems the freight is moving pretty good lately. It's always up & down so have to be ready for the slow periods as well.........Dave

Well guys I thought I would update you on how I feel after my first week at my new job. I still have a bit of fear about giving up an established job with lots of senority to being the bottom guy on the board, but I really like the job.
I still have a lot of classes to attend, but was working with a trainer while I waited for a spot to open up in class. We are dealing with radioactive waste and some heavy containers at my new job. Safety is stressed beyond productivity because there are so many dangers around me. It was pretty intimidating raising a hydraulic cylinder and ramp 38' in the air and pulling a 50,000 lb conainer onto it. I am getting comfortable with the controls and am trying to learn all I can. Overall I love my new job and enjoy the history of the area I work. For some of you who are not in the area here is the mess that we are cleaning up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanford_Site Thanks for the support. Robert

53 million gallons of radioactive waste? That is incredible. Jim

Possibly Bill. I definately don't want that to happen. They have alot of controls in place and it is pretty safe out here, but there is still the human element to deal with.
Hey I heard they had a train and cars that were to hot to leave the reservation and they just dug a ditch laid some track and drove it in. I know that we will have to unearth that some day. Robert

Congrats Robert.
As an ex Commercial Highway Engineer, I can say I don't miss it one bit. Especially after the trip I made out to El Paso and back last week. Thankfully it was made as a "Private Carrier - Not For Hire".... no logbook, no worries. Seeing what's out there and the Government's regulations makes it a royal PITA. It's not like it was back when it was my regular job as a carhauler and freight/produce hauler. Anyone that can get away from it and make the jump to a better job is better off for the sake of their family and themselves. You made a good move Robert.
