Default 63 Tempest coming up on the transbrake

Here is a link to a video of my friends 63 Tempest that I machined and built a 541 for. He is testing the new converter to see if it will stall out higher than the old one which would only stall to about 4000 rpm. This one stalled at around 6400. It doesn't come up on the brake until the end. His previous best with the old converter was a 9.17 @ 150. It had slow 60 ft. times. Looked like a street car taking off from a light. Then at about the 100 ft. mark, it really came alive. Now it should launch good and we are hoping for mid to high 8's. We will see tomorrow. That is if it doesn't rain. The forcast calls for a 20% chance. Will let you know tomorrow what it does. Hopefully will have video of it running a pass. Man, I hope it doesn't rain.

that was pretty exiting to hear the new Hughes converter come up like right now. The previous expensive 'get what you pay for' POS brand converter would take 2-3 seconds to build up to about 3800. Tomorrows going to be a different flight for Jim. Hopefully the end of a year of frustration.

Heres a pic of Paul pretending to be a videographer. (8-)

And a pic of Jim's wife Ellen, Crew Chief

Damn Rich, I didn't even know you took that! Oh, yeah, you need to set the date on your camera.

Just talked to Jim. His first pass, leaving the line at 3500, ran an 8.88 @ 151. He said it was a little loose off the line but nothing serious. It also went a little flat on the top end. Some more tuning and he should be getting close to the 8.50 mark he is hoping for. I'm on my way out there now to check it out and try to get some video.

The weather got bad so he was only able to get in 3 passes. He's trying to get the injection system dialed in, then he can work on launch RPM's.
