Picking up a set of Firestone wide oval RWL tires for it today, honey's will go back on it for the trip & the show, tires will get mounted to the Rally II's for the racing on Sunday. Governor kit will be traveling with me along with an extra trans & carb - the work will get done there and we'll see how she runs.

If these issues are resolved favorably, the converter and gears are next. Hope to have those set for Norwalk.

What converter and gearset are you gonna try, Chris?

Not sure on the converter yet - I need to stay within 1 inch of stock and no more than a 2200 stall - looking for suggestions. I'm thinking (have been told) gears in the 3:42/3:55 range should work for my setup.

The 13" Continental converter and 3.55s would be WICKED for your setup, Chris.

Todd, Steve, Gary's & my GT-37 took 2nd in our class at the PY show & I red lighted in the 4th round (final 5 of street class) today at Maple Grove.

I also got to change the governor (twice) in the back lot behind the PY warehouse on Saturday on my makeshift lift.

It was a great weekend!

Low 14's all day with a serious traction problem and lousy 60' times, but I was 100+ on every run so something is working better. Car scales at 3640 without fatty on board.

I had to beat Mitch in Round 2 by slamming on the brakes at the finish line dropping my MPH in the traps to 92 - we both broke out, I just broke out less. He wasn't upset because he got his personal best in the high 13's!

I've got a few videos I'll post up later.

Video of Round 2 & 3 are up. Didn't get round 4, just some unpostable pictures of Mitch.

Chris

The very first thing you have to do is beat the **** out of it; drive like a tattered dog. Then worry about the car itself.

Chris, the first thing is you've got to do a burnout that looks more like the one in the video link in post 164! Get those WideOvals good and hot and they'll hook up better.

What was it shifting at with the governor mods?

Chris, don't be scared to manual shift that thing. I know it's not the easiest way to race but it can be done. And like G says; roast the hell out of those tires. Don't be the first to the line either; let the other guy get going then do your heat up, that is actually the oldest trick in the book on the line.

wow. light car. Not surprised at the mph, if you said serious traction problems. At the FAST/Factory Stock race at Martin this past weekend, mine weighs 3675 with me in it and roughly 1/8 tank of guess and an empty trunk. For reference, ran a best of 12.79 @ 110 with a iirc 2.03 60 ft for the weekend. And this was in bad air too as it was low 90s and humid.

screw the neighbors, go out in the cul-de-sac and burn the snot out of those wide ovals. don't be shy. covering those nice white lower qtrs with burnt rubber is a badge of honor. Once my polyglas got several heat cycles in them (ie burnouts) I could see wear on the tread and they started really biting (ie they are now seasoned).

however, at the track, don't do such a massive john force burnout that roasts them to the cords because the tires get greasy and don't bite. You really just want to warm them up real good. It's a little bit trial and error. Tire pressure also plays a big role. I'm sure Jeremy can give you input also. I think I'm running 47lb in the fronts and about 35 in the rears.

Shifts are coming in at the 4800/5000 mark now which is much better but I need to get the traction problem solved first because I'm getting my 1-2 shift while they're spinning at the line & then it's downshifting once they grab!
