Usually the biggest carb wins. Flowing through an empty baseplate sometimes helps see what's going on with the transition from the carb exit into the manifold runners. The flow bench is helpful for improving carburetor CFM and testing booster signal. |

So…. TA Man you pulling the tiger and making the move to Northwind, you have room under hood to try it with a spacer.

Interesting thread. I'm just been playing around with a Victor 4150 I'm gonna try this summer. The Northwind is a 4150 Dave did for me. Victor difference of about 1" plenum height.

Just as a comparison first picture is un-port Victor second one fully ported Victor. I was blown away in the difference in hp the ported Victor made over the un-ported one, that was just port matched to my heads.

Ya hard to say. I'm just playing around with this intake to see what the car will do. I have the Northwind 4150, the Northwind 4500 and now this Victor 4150 which I'm doing. I'm gonna try all 3 this summer see what happens. I didn't do back to back testing with both Northwind intakes, but at end of season we ran the N.W. 4500 and ran a best number at our track. (10.12)

Maybe this will help, when we dyno with the un-ported Victor and the 10.50, after a few pulls, he said you need more carb, so he’s on the phone with Patrick at Pro Systems, Who he deals exclusively with. Two days later carb shows up, first pull it picks up 30 more hp, turns out its a 1150 cfm. I’m not running a big roller 739 lift. 265/276. 505 ci. But they are wide port heads.

That because both intakes are ported, Gach is confused again.

Imo to make it worth while a spacer is needed. They squashed that area to help with hood clearance but it's definitely costing power. |

I was looking at that ...it has really high ports so at least a 3/4 inch spacer to get the throttle blades up higher.

A disadvantage of owning the coolest car ever made.... I purchased a quarter inch spacer off E-bay. The guy advertised it "for when you need just a little bit" ..... He obviously didn't own a Firebird.
