Does anyone have an original '71 TA with either a 7041270 or 7041273 carb? I am gathering information on original Q-jet usage on these cars. My research so far indicates Trans Ams used the HO non-ram air carbs - 7041267 and 7041268. Any input is appreciated.

Between my dad and I, we have one of each. He bought his NOS and it's a 7041268. Mine is a 7041270 and supposedly off a 71 GTO. I know this doesn't help much, but if you need any info about either, please let me know. Both were replacement carbs dated 1978.

What about a 7041262. I know it's off the 325 hp. motor. Does it flow the same as the H/O's or not. Thanks for any help.

The 7041262 uses the conventional booster ring stack and has small diameter venturi bores. This limits flow on these carbs to an approximate maximum of 750 CFM. The '71 HO and 4 speed carbs have had the booster ring removed to increase flow to around 790 CFM. The '73 and '74 SD carbs were developed from the high flow Q-Jets that Buick released in 1971. These carbs feature a conventional booster ring stack, but, had the venturi diameter increased to give an approximate 800 CFM capacity. These carbs are slightly more responsive and fuel effecient due to the extra booster ring that increases velocity past the venturi.
