Console shifter refurbishing
Hi All,
I recently had a 4L60E installed in my 1970 GTO and am now installing a Shiftworks detent kit in the console shifter. With more than 50 years of dust and gunk present, I'd like to do more than simply replace the detent plate. A secondary goal is to investigate the possibility of modifications to restore the "rally shift" functionality - not sure about that one yet, we'll see. Anyway, if I give the mechanism a good cleaning, what type of grease / lubricant would anyone recommend when reassembling it? Thanks.

Recently took mine apart, cleaned everything up, wire wheeled the shifter frame and reassembled with a small amount of white lithium grease. Super easy to do. Makes them like new!

Thank you TxSportCoupe! I have a can of that on the shelf. And thanks for the pictures - they'll be a big help too.
