Div 2 & 7
Edit: The first number above should a 4, NOT a 2. That race is in Belle Rose, LA.
This week there are Lucas Oil Series races in div 4 & div 7. https://www.nhra.com/news/2018/d4-bellerose http://www.noproblemraceway.com/services.html https://www.nhra.com/news/2018/d7-phoenix http://www.racewildhorse.net/index.p...ortsman-event/ Should be several Pontiacs entered in the div 7 race. But may not be any at the div 4 race. Last edited by ponyakr; 03-02-2018 at 11:16 AM. |

Thanks for the pics !
Not familiar with the black Bird in the 1st pic, #770. Any idea who's car that is , and what class ? According to the qualifying sheet, Scott Burton has the quickest Pontiac powered Stocker, with a .914 under 10.336 good enuff for #10 position. Bob Aceves is in #21 position, Rick Unterseh is at #23 with his 301T powered Bird, Wayne Stephenson is at #49, and Leo Glasbrenner is at #58. Click on the zoom block, at the top of the page, at the links below, to get a closer look at the Q list. https://postimg.org/image/4gxl6ovab/ https://postimg.org/image/sxfr1bw2r/ Wonder if Wayne Stephenson is kin to Chris Stephenson ? Looks like the same car, or real similar. But, has a different NHRA number. Chris has a Facebook page. But, I'm still locked out of FB. As ya'll can see from the 2nd pic in post #45, Frank Gostyla is there with his T/S car. Last edited by ponyakr; 03-02-2018 at 07:33 PM. |

At last year's AZ Nats, he made the 32 car field. with a 7.532, then tripped the red light in round 1. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2017#indextop At this div 7 race, after Friday's qualifying, he's #32, with a 7.366 @ 183.97 mph. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop Last edited by ponyakr; 03-03-2018 at 10:17 AM. |

Div 7
Here's the Fri Stock Q-list, from dragracecentral.com.
https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop And here's the SS list. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop It answers some questions I had. The black Bird I ask about earlier belongs to Larry Maxwell. He's running it in GT/NA. That's pretty low. Wondering if he's running a low compression 350, like maybe a '77 model. But I haven't done any math on it, yet. Also, Chris Stephenson is driving a Chevy. So, maybe his brother is driving the '68 Bird Stocker. Lindy Lindholm is driving his old '74 Formula Stocker, in SS, in the GT/MA class. And, it looks like Leo Glasbrenner had major problems, running a 28.745, in his 9 sec 4th gen Bird. And again, Frank Gostyla is in #32 position in T/S, with a 7.366. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop |

Looks like there are at least 2 Pontiac engines at No Problem Raceway. JB Clegg is in the #14 position, with a 9.748, in his SS/I SD455 '74 Bird, which is the former H-O Racing Specialties national record holder. Billy Ingels also has his '74 SS Bird in Belle Rose. He's at #28, running SS/IA. So, I assume he also has an SD455.

Brad Burton joined the party today, in Stock & SS. He's #18 in Stock & #25 in SS.
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop Frank G ran slightly quicker, but remained in the the #32 position, in T/S. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop |

Spotted a Pontiac powered Stocker. #39 is listed as a '77 Lemans, driven by Wayne Larsen. The 400 powered '77 Lemans is considered a very competitive combo. Bob Michael built one that ran good. Sold it to Dave Ribeiro. So, anybody know this car or driver ?
https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop https://postimg.org/image/us5v5unsb/ And here's the final Q-list for SS. https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop Found a '77 Lemans driven by Jack Larsen. So, since the last names are the same, it would make sense that it is the same car. Or, I suppose it's possible that a similar car was built. Last edited by ponyakr; 03-03-2018 at 11:34 PM. |

Div 7
Hey thanks for that race report !
That would be the '74 200hp 350, like came in the GTO. Bill Rink has done real good with that engine, in Stock & SS. But he got the Stock hp factor up too high, in a Stock class Ventura. But, in GT Super Stock, the hp factor is only 250. So that makes it competitive. http://www.classracerinfo.com/Engine...8&MAKE=Pontiac |
